Finding The Right Bluetooth GPS PDA

Bluetooth GPS PDA
A major consideration when you are buying any new technology is how well the technology performs. This is important because any device that has problems will be quickly replaced with a newer one. So to save money you need to make sure that you buy a PDA that performs well with no major complaints so that you can use it even with newer technology on the market. The Bluetooth feature is important when you are buying a Bluetooth GPS PDA because it can help you save memory space; it also helps to keep unnecessary weight off your sleek little PDA.

Good Connectivity

A good Bluetooth GPS PDA is ideal if you want to use the PDA for navigating while driving. The GPS receiver is placed on your dashboard or any other area of the car that allows it to have a clear access to satellites and then the PDA is mounted in a place that allows you to track your progress and journey.

A good GPS palm PDA should already come with software that has maps and points of interests programmed into it. If time if of the essence during journeys then you might want to make sure that your Bluetooth GPS PDA has route recalculation feature. This will allow you to decide which route to take so that you get to your destination as quickly as possible.

Adding Bluetooth

If you happen to have a PDA that does not have Bluetooth capabilities but would like a Bluetooth GPS PDA then you can still add this feature. An adaptor will allow you to convert your PDA to a Bluetooth GPS PDA.

The only problem with this is that you will lose the ability to add an expansion slot to your PDA during long trips; this is a big handicap if you are planning a long distance trip that needs additional mapping data. Stick to PDAs with Bluetooth capability if you are looking to save memory space.

Extra Consideration

Other things that you want to think about when choosing the right Bluetooth GPS PDA for your journeys is the battery life. Nothing is more frustrating than having your PDA die in the middle of a car journey. So compare the battery life of different models before making a purchase.

There are some Bluetooth GPS PDAs that have built in software that enhances satellite reception. Essentially look at what is important for your daily navigation needs and compare this against what’s available on the market.

Advantages of a Wireless Handheld PDA

handheld pda
I remember when I got my first pda. I was so excited about being able to pretty much carry around a pc in my pocket. The problem was I didn't really have a wireless handheld pda. I was still a slave to a cord; a USB cord.

While technically I had Bluetooth, I didn't have an compatible Bluetooth phone. So I had to sync over the USB cord and this was very problematic at times. What I thought was convenient could turn into a work intensive process. I wanted a wireless handheld pda, but the pda I had didn't live up to my expectations.

The Times They are 'a Changin'

My how times have changed. These days pdas do so many more things than they used to and without the necessity of wires. Wireless handheld pdas now have wifi technology to make them what they were promised to be all along. Now you can connect to either your home network or internet hotspots and download and transfer data and apps without the old sync procedures that were so time consuming.

Office on the Go

A wireless handheld pda allows you to have your office on the go. You can make calls, check emails, work on documents even offer presentations using these wonderful portable devices that fit in your pocket. Convenience is part of the price and it is priceless to have such convenience.

Think about the office of old, the paper, the rolodex, the clunky office machines that took up half the space and most of all the books and ledgers that had to be dealt with by hand and stored in large spaces because of their bulk. Now, at your fingertips you can store data that once took thousands of square feet in a device that you can hold in your hand. Technology is miraculous and yet we take it for granted these days because it is so everyday. We don't have to think about it and that is exactly why things like wireless handheld pdas were invented.

Now the office is your favorite restaurant, your local park or even your bedroom. You are not confined to the same four walls or to a stuffy cubicle to conduct business. The wireless handheld pda has ended all of that. So the next time you are longing for the old days, think long and hard about what it was like before such wonderful devices. Think about what it took to get things done and then thank your lucky stars that you live in a day and age when wireless handheld pdas are possible and in use.

Purchasing a Cheap Palm PDA

cheap palm pda
Palm has been a leader in PDA technology since the very beginning. Its devices are the pioneering devices in the industry and still today are the standard bearers. While others may be more popular, you can still get a lot done with a cheap Palm pda.

Convenience

Most palm devices are cell phone platforms now, but they still make cheap Palm pdas that stand alone. Wifi capability and advanced features make these devices worth owning. Still the cheap pda cell phone is the way to go for this reviewer. It is just too convenient to carry one device instead of two and the more smart phones advance the more convenient it becomes.

Popular cheap Palm pdas include the Treo and the Centro. They are offered by a variety of cell phone carriers and often come with deep discounts depending on the calling plan you choose. They offer the convenience of a querty keyboard with faster 3g internet connections that allow you to access your important emails and documents from anywhere. In addition, a cheap Palm pda is much less costly than the better known Blackberry and I-phone.

Comparing Apples to Apples

While a cheap Palm pda might not be as trendy as some others, they have kept up with the technology and are a bargain. If you are in the market for a good platform and not a status symbol this is certainly the way to go.

For example, the Centro offers a qwerty keyboard, touch screen, an MP3 player and Bluetooth for under two hundred dollars. Also you can get an excellent camera, reliable web and email as well as all the other features of the older Palms such as calendar and scheduling software that can be synced with your Microsoft products. You can save your important business documents using Microsoft word instead of special software that may or may not be compatible with your computer software. A cheap Palm pda offers these features and so much more at a lower price when comparing comparable devices from other manufacturers.

The choice is clear. You can get state of the art technology and pay for a name or you can get a cheap palm pda that offers both the technical bells and whistles at a bargain price. This really is a no-brainer. Why settle for less when you can get more cheaper. You can't go wrong choosing a cheap Palm pda. It is a real deal.

Finding The Best PDA GPS

best pda gps
Sometimes it feels like the only way to keep track of everything in your life is your own personal assistant. Unfortunately not many of us can afford a PA, the next best thing then is to have the very best PDA GPS.

Something that you can carry in your pocket that will remind you of appointments, keep track of your business records, and it can also be your phone. So how do you choose the right one? While there are plenty of good Bluetooth GPS PDA phones out there you want to choose one that fits your needs.

Getting Around

For some people the GPS function in a PDA is not that important, for these types of user the device serves more as a digital organizer. For others having an accurate GPS system is extremely important. This is an important factor in choosing the best PDA GPS. If precision is not important to you then you can spend less and you don’t have to choose the best GPS system in your PDA or PDA phone.

However if you need the GPS function to be accurate then you will need to look for a PDA that has an expensive atomic clock. This will allow you to have a very accurate device that allows you to know exactly where you are and how to get to somewhere. This could be important if you find yourself constantly relying on your PDA for directions.

How Will You Use It?

If you find yourself driving a lot when using your PDA then the best PDA GPS for you would be one that has a feature that gives spoken instructions. It’s much safer and a lot more convenient to have this type of PDA when you drive a lot and need directions.

However this feature is unnecessary if you are walking and can easily glance at your PDA screen. Forgoing spoken instructions in the best PDA GPS system can help you save some money. So this is something to consider if cost is a concern.

The best PDA GPS has maps that are continually updated. While this is a great feature and very convenient you can also consider other PDAs. A more affordable alternative is to download maps from your computer when you need to go somewhere. The choice is yours depending what you need out of your PDA. So decide what is important in your daily function and find the best PDA GPS to fit these needs.

Guide to PDA Navigation Software

pda nagivation
GPS technology has revolutionized all our lives in the last quarter century. Where once people had to rely on bulky and often outdated street maps and road atlases in order to find their way around, nowadays they can get door to door directions from their PC, from in car navigation devices or via their PDAs. In fact, PDA navigation software is one of the most popular applications for PDAs and Smartphones. This article looks at a few of the myriad PDA navigation software titles available on the market.

Non-GPS PDA Navigation Software

An inexpensive alternative to the usual GPS navigation software for PDAs is provided by Virtual GPS Pro, an $8 shareware application from KamLex.com. Virtual GPS Pro uses cell phone towers and wifi hotspots to keep a track of your location and map it using Google Maps. The accuracy is within 200m in urban areas and within 5km in countryside. This is noticeably less accurate than a true GPS system, but for those on a tight budget (and who isn't these days?) it provides a reasonable degree of emulation.

GPS PDA Navigation Software

The majority of PDA navigation software uses GPS to track your phone's location. TomTom, one of the leading in car GPS navigation products, also produces a version of its software for PDAs. Their Navigator software contains complete road maps and a choice of spoken or text navigation. You can even download additional voices for the spoken navigation, so if you've ever wanted Mr. T to give you directions, this is the utility for you, fool!

For off road navigation, GPS Tuner is a shareware designed for hikers, rock climbers, boating enthusiasts and others who need the benefits of GPS navigation off the beaten track. It features a real-time rotating compass and Google Earth compatibility. It also allows you to pinpoint your friends' positions provided they have the utility installed, ideal for hunting parties and the like, where there's a danger of people becoming separated in a wilderness area. If those kids in The Blair Witch Project had this utility installed, they might still be alive today (though it would have made for a pretty uneventful movie).

PDA Navigation Software for Aviation

It isn't just drivers and enthusiasts for the great outdoors who use PDA navigation software. It also has specialized uses in the aviation industry. In fact, whilst GPS technology was originally developed for military use, the aviation industry were the first to benefit from its being opened up to civilian use when President Ronald Reagan opened it up following the Korean Airlines flight 007 disaster in 1983.

NAVGPS is a specialist utility for PDAs containing topographical data for the entire world. It allows for flight planning by showing pilots their nearest airport as well as features to avoid such as mountains, buildings etc., making it an invaluable resource for pilots of small aircraft.

Deciding With A Handheld PDA Review

pda review
When you are deciding if you should buy a PDA there is also the question of whether you should just go for a Smartphone. Some people argue that the PDA is on its way to being obsolete. Yet there are still plenty of people out there who use PDAs with no complaints.

Handheld PDA reviews still keep coming out and some people believe there is still some life left in the old PDA. Whether you decide to stick to a PDA due to a good handheld PDA review or go for a Smartphone will depend on various factors.

The Expense

For many people despite what the handheld PDA reviews have to say the deciding factor is cost. At the outset a Smartphone might seem like the cheaper option. Many Smartphones are cheaper than PDAs. The thing that many people don’t realize is that the cost for the Smartphone is ongoing. You will have to pay for a monthly wireless date plan; some companies also make you pay for a voice plan. This is why the best handheld PDA in the market is cheaper in the long run.

Connectivity

One advantage that PDAs have over Smartphones in handheld PDA reviews is the speed that you can surf the Internet. While Smartphones connect to the Internet via cellular networks PDAs use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. The better connectivity of this type of technology allows for faster surfing.

Network Independence

A great advantage that PDAs have in handheld PDA reviews is the independence of the devices to network providers. When you switch wireless networks there is no need to buy a new device. However with a Smartphone there is a high likelihood of having to buy a new Smartphone should you decide to switch wireless providers.

limitations

While some people are happy to use devices that are multipurpose such as the Smartphone, there are some limitations to doing this. A PDA comes out tops in handheld PDA reviews because of its bigger screen, ideal for users who need to review documents without constantly scrolling through the document.

A Smartphone also has a bigger risk for inconvenience should anything go wrong. In the case of theft, or misplacement you risk losing all your important information in one go. Having two separate devices in this way is a somewhat safer route to storing date. Ultimately it comes down to choice and what you feel is best no matter what positive handheld PDA reviews there might be.

A Guide to a Cheap PDA

cheap pda
The convenience of the internet has never been more available. With the advent of cell phone technology and PDAs (personal digital assistants), you can surf the web like never before. Still, having the right platform makes all the difference when finding ways to stay connected. A cheap PDA may or may not be the best way.

The Shift in Technology

When I got my PDA back in 2005 it was a cheap PDA and had a lot of convenient features for the time. My Tungsten E2 had a touch screen well in advance of Iphone. Its keyboard was easier to use than the cell phone keypad. I could store a lot of music and pictures with a good SD card and that was a major plus. Unfortunately there were many drawbacks. First of all, at the time, cell phone technology was beginning to take the place of PDAs because the cell phone could do the same things directly, such as connect to the internet that the PDA did indirectly. Instead of having two devices, you only needed one.

Also, if you didn't have a compatible phone, internet access and access to email was impossible. I found myself in this predicament. I had a cheap PDA, but really what I had was an expensive calendar. My cheap Palm pda did me no good when it came to convenience and frustrated more than helped.

Saving an Industry

Still there is a need for cheap pdas that allow the consumer the convenience of a small device with big capabilities. One innovation simply made this possible. When the devices became wifi compatible they made a giant leap forward. Now the larger screen and the touch screen features became more than a novelty. These newer devices were better equipped to meet customer demands at a lower price than the purchase of a laptop. Cheap pdas may indeed have a future.

For under four hundred dollars Palm and HP both offer devices that allow internet and email access and the capability of texting. Because of wifi, these devices can stand alone and serve a function apart from a cell phone. While the newer cells such as Blackberry's and Iphone have replaced these stand alone cheap pdas it has also drove the price down and cheap pdas are not hard to come by. Now is a good time to buy a cheap pda. The advantages in staying organized alone are well worth the cost.

Using A GPS PDA

gps pda
PDAs or personal digital assistants can prove to be very handy because these are devices that can easily be held in your hands while providing you help in doing a number of things including being reminded about your important appointments and also to store personal and business records and best of all it can become your own personal phone whenever needed. You can only imagine how much more useful and productive a GPS PDA will prove to be, especially in regard to getting directions as well as information about various locations.

How Accurate Is Accurate Enough?

Of course, there are a few factors that you will need to consider before you invest your hard earned money in buying a GPS PDA. First and foremost you need to learn about the accuracy level of such a device and though there is much information available when you use a GPS PDA this information will only be useful if it is accurate.

Unfortunately, the clocks that are inherent to a GPS PDA is not as accurate as are the clocks that are onboard satellites and this can mar the accuracy of the readings given by the satellite. Nevertheless, the accuracy of most standard GPS PDAs is reasonably good which means that even a less costly such device will be able to prove its worth to you.

Next, you need to know just what you are going to use your GPS PDA for and then you need to look for certain features in it that will help you get the most out of these devices. You can use GPS very effectively in your car as you will enjoy receiving spoken instructions regarding which direction to drive in to reach your destination and also knows how far your destination is and other useful information too is provided by the GPS system.

The bottom line is that it pays to invest in an advanced kind of GPS PDA because then you get many benefits including having maps that are continuously updated and which will then provide you the right service to ensure that you get a bigger bang for your buck.

If you are looking for a good GPS PDA phone then there are several options worth checking out including the one known as the HTC P3300. This is a combination device that consists of part PDA phone and part GPS device that can provide a number of useful functions including of course helping you to navigate the streets as you drive your car in unknown locations.

pda software
Your PDA or Smartphone can be all sorts of things besides a phone. There is a vast range of PDA software downloads available that can turn it into a weather forecaster, a financial calculator, a GPS navigator or a video arcade. PDA navigation software is the most popular category – so much so that it warrants an article of its own. This article will therefore concentrate on other categories of PDA software downloads.

PDA Utility Software Downloads

Started in PDA Software Development

pda software development
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs for short), also known as palmtop computers, are a type of handheld computer normally combining a phone, web browser and portable media player. The term PDA was coined in 1992 with the launch of the Apple Newton, but the first PDA is normally considered to be the Casio PF-3000, even if the term hadn't been invented in 1983 when the product was first unveiled. The range of software available for most PDAs is similar to a regular PC: office applications, games, GPS navigators, multimedia and other utilities. This article aims to acquaint you with the basics of PDA software development.

Can I Get a Job in PDA Software Development?

The bad news is that the bulk of PDA software development jobs for actual software companies appear to be outsourced to India, Eastern Europe and other areas of the world where labor costs are cheap. However, there is a thriving market for PDA software downloads, so if you have the entrepreneurial spirit and the skills to develop software in one of the popular PDA operating systems such as Palm OS, there is nothing to stop you from going into business for yourself.

The hardest part of PDA software development, provided one has the necessary programming skills (and see below if you don't), is finding ideas for new applications. Very few apps are created ex nihilo, however. Most are improvements and additions to existing software. Often, you can get ideas for the next killer app by using existing software for your PDA and thinking about how you would make it better.

Learning to Program PDA Software

But first things first. You will need to learn a programming language such as XML, Java or C++ in order to develop PDA software. The good news is that there are a host of online and offline resources available to help you learn these languages. The website Cprogramming.com contains a series of tutorials designed to help the beginner learn C++, which is used in developing PDA software for the popular Palm OS mobile operating system, with links to free software that you will need. And there is any number of books available, including the ever reliable Dummies series.

For XML and Java programmers, AJAX is a method of programming made popular by Google and often used in PDA software development. AJAX stands for Asynchronous JavaScript And XML. AJAX is not a programming language, but a software development technique that allows PDAs to retrieve data from the server without interfering with the display on screen. It allows for much faster and more detailed animation to be used in PDA software. If you want to learn PDA software development, AJAX is probably the best place to start.

Medical Pda Software For All Kinds Of Medical Staff

pda medical softwareFor the medical practitioner, the student and house staff, the medical pda software package on a pda could be a godsend on it’s own for immediate assistance when others are not around to help with information needed.

The information that can be obtained with using the medical pda software is amazing, from directories of medicines and their generics, to the treatment of patients, to diagnosing over the pda. Gees who knew you could have a qualified doctor in the palm of you hand, and his name was not Dr. Tom Thumb, by simply downloading the medical pda software that is available to those who need it on a daily basis.

Well the medical pda software could be just as useful as the Internet with us, but a lot more information on medication and patient history would be available to those who need that information. We can still research our own health problems and read up on diagnoses for the ailments we have, including a list of medication that is required to treat the problem if necessary. But the one thing that we cannot get for free without the medical pda software on the doctors end, is the script we need for the medication, and it would be wiser to just go and see your physician for a second professional real opinion, and follow their instructions rather than just assuming what could be on your own.

With all the current downloads available for normal free pda software either medical pda software, builder’s pda software, technological pda software or even fun pda software, the need for pda software development continues. We all strive to want everything on hand when we need it, which is usually immediately. Unfortunately this is still continuously in progress and new downloads are also being designed for users out there with special requirements too.

The Almost Ultimate Assistant

There will be no end to the technological development for the perfection of the pda and pda phone. What more could you possibly want from a pda? It already does most of your things for you, on command. You get woken up with the alarm clock. You get to chat to people. You can take photos with it. You can listen to music with it. You can search over the Internet and use it to send and receive emails.

It reminds you of things you need to do for the day, and it takes voice notes on things too that you don’t feel like entering on the keypad immediately. One thing is surely short of the functionality, that it cannot make you that cup of coffee in the morning, or tuck you in at night.

The Best Pda Gps Software

After all this time of searching for the best pda phone for yourself on your journeys, you considered buying a gps until you were informed that you could get pda gps software off the Internet. Why not have everything you need on one gadget, you think. The only problem with having all your eggs in one basket, so to speak is if it breaks – including the extra memory card you added, gets lost or stolen that everything you had on there is gone forever, never to be recovered again.

All your contact details of people and acquaintances, all data you may have saved, all directions that you may have needed, all reminders of what you need to remember, gone!. One thing for sure which is a proven fact, is that since the invention of gadgets such as this including normal cell phones, no one tends to learn the contact numbers that we were all used to doing in the past.

Always Have A Plan B

One thing that should be done every now and again, just as a plan B for all your contact details you have stored on your pda phone, is to make a written list and store it at home in case you do lose usage of the pda.

Considering you have the need to download the pda gps software you will find it has all the functionality of the usual gps that you could purchase in the shop separately, and more. If you have the touch screen pda, with using the pda gps software you can touch and do things faster than usual with the gps, than with using the soft key pad on other pda’s. You would also have the benefit of hearing the directions with the pda gps software you downloaded, not only have a map in front of you to guide you where to go. Besides that you will always have your camera on hand to take pictures of locations you have been to with the aid of your pda gps software that got you there in the first place.

Not Only For The Man In The Street

Now if you were a doctor, vet or a medical student that is on standby it would be very handy to have the pda gps software for finding places where you have to do emergency house calls on, and besides that you could definitely make use of the medical pda software available to download too. You could send scripts forward, check medication choices, track patient medical records and more to begin with.

From the very first instant you downloaded some free pda software, you found that in your email box you got so much spam, you thought your pda had a weird attraction for this kind of junk mail. Well depending on what free pda software you downloaded exactly, there would the threads of other things coming with it onto your pda system without you even realising it. Your pda is a hand held computer, and just with your PC can pick up a virus without you knowing or when it is too late and your information that you need has been destroyed by it.

Now you would have to find some free pda software that works as an antivirus to restore you pda phone the way you had it when it was new, nearly like the factory default mode. But you cannot just do that by pressing a button. You have to get rid of the viruses you downloaded by accident, as you didn’t have the necessary firewall protection and antivirus free pda software that you were requested to do first before you chose your skins and other pretty icons to help you remember what you are doing with the gadget.

Caution Is Advised On Downloading Everything

After you realised that you saved yourself a lot of stress by finally downloading the free pda software that protects viruses from entering, you could finally go and redo every thing that you originally downloaded for your own personal usage and benefit, including the pda gps software, as you tend to travel to various destinations on quite frequent occasions.

Your Final Pda Creation

Now that you have found most of what you could possibly need for your pda, your maps will guide you there on time too. Just as with any other GPS you will have all those extra features that most of the time you just don’t need or don’t have the time to look at while you are driving, including the annoying voice that quite bluntly tells you that you may have missed the turnoff that you were supposed to take.

Just as with every pda out on the market, there is always another one that comes out soon that seems better than the one you have. You chose what you chose for a reason, to keep it as your assistant, if you go get a new one you will have to reload all those features again and retrain your assistant to become once again obedient.
